I am having trouble with portraits. When I took the first photo I held the camera in a vertical position. When I rotated the picture in Picasa 3 the shape of Katie's face changed to unnaturally round. The second picture was taken with the camera in normal position but makes it harder to fill the frame and get nice and close. Do you have any advice for this problem?

  1. Both are wonderful shots. Congratulations.. What you mean about the top shot? Both seem like they were shot with the camera in a vertical position. That's a good thing. The light is perfect in both instances. However in the color version. There is a small excess of blue, which can be filtered out by adding yellow. If the picture was rotated that would not cause her face to become distorted. The more likely reason would be the focal length of the lens was in the wide angle setting. The bottom shot looks like you used a slight telephoto, which is excellent for portraits.
